Campus has been dependably an essential component of an institution where a student gets to explore the potentiality by through the period. A creative and innovative campus having all the modern amenities always allows the students to experience an unheard level of creation.
Mahir Rashed, a young, ingenious and dynamic architect who has just completed the graduation this year from Bangladesh University thinks that a campus has been consistently capable to create possibilities. And to dream of a impeccable campus Mr. Rashed confidently came up with an enthralling design which represents the all new campus planning of Shanto-Marium University of Creative Technology (SMUCT) which is located at Shanto-Niketon, Shinaboho, Gazipur. This thesis project by Mr. Rashed is contrived for Shanto-Marium Foundation. The respected advisors of the thesis projects are
Ar. Iqbal Habib, Ar. Bikash Saud Ansary, Ar. Qazi M. Arif and Ar. NR Khan. The studio teachers who have assisted through the period are Ar. Sifat Sultana, Ar. Kazi Tarannum Hossain and Ar. Mithun Chandra Nath under studio X.
Every individual possesses some creativity and ingenuity that needs to be drilled to be flourished. It needs a media which might help them to reinforce and strengthen their conceivable outcomes. In present days, individuals are additionally getting interested in this particular media.
The aim of this project is to build a university which would provide all the facilities required for the students interested in the field of Design and Performing Arts. The proposed University of Creative Technology is going to be constructed 40 kilometers away from Dhaka city on 15 acres of land. There are ample opportunities in terms of creating spaces and relating interior spaces with the exterior space & creating different types of creative space along departmental studios. Basically this university has total five departments along two faculties which are Design Faculty (Fashion Department & Graphic Department) & Performing Art Faculty (Dance, Drama & Music Department) along with TSC, hostel for both male & female, teachers residence, common facilities (multi-purpose hall, playground, amphitheater, exhibition hall) & administration. The main challenge was to make a bridge in between all departments’ connection by elegant design, because all departments are related by creative field along creativity.
Project Brief:
A creative institute is not an institution for study only rather than it’s more like a place where multi-disciplinary activity will always held & students will be grooming themselves by different types of socio, cultural activity..
Here it has been tied to make different type of activity space which will promote students from different point of views-
People; there they come, spent time, & share their knowledge.
To develop a master plan with the simplicity where student can move along simple way besides in connecting all departments under one datum is to create a bonding between all. Different types of outdoor, semi-outdoor & indoor space are connected under this datum by double height, triple height space. All Practical class room is located in the top floor of datum because the practical study is similar for all departments. All massing are elongated on east-west axis to promote the south wind-flow & sun-light where all corridors are facing to south. Attention to natural light and south-eastern air-flow keeps this non air-conditioned building comfortable. All service is trying to provide at west side for controlling the direct sun light. It has been tried to integrate the TSC zone & residential zone by symmetrical composition to hold the entire master plan & making a body of total volume. Different types of court are proposed on the site such as: dance, drama & music court; design court; TSC Court, main entry court, central court, plays ground. The architect has attractively tried to develop a master plan of a university along with all kind of facility & functional need while respecting the site context and indigenous value of Bangladesh.
The project aims to acquire an influential change in the education framework where the campus ground will be playing the most vital and steady part in such manner. With the specific end goal to get quality artists and professionals from an innovative foundation like this, this infrastructure will be practically imperative and noteworthy.
